About Therapy & What We Treat

What is maternal mental health care?

Maternal mental health care focuses on supporting emotional wellbeing during fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting. It includes care for postpartum depression, anxiety, birth trauma, grief, and major life transitions. We specialize in therapy for women in Ohio during these important seasons.

What’s the difference between baby blues and postpartum depression?

"Baby blues" typically last 1–2 weeks after delivery and improve without intervention. Postpartum depression is more intense, lasts longer, and interferes with daily life. If your emotions feel overwhelming or aren’t improving, it’s a good time to talk with someone.

Can therapy help with anxiety, scary thoughts, or fertility loss?

Yes. We work with women experiencing postpartum anxiety, intrusive thoughts, fertility struggles, miscarriage, and birth trauma. These challenges are more common than most people think—and you are not alone. Therapy can help you process emotions, regain calm, and feel more like yourself again.

Is therapy helpful if I’m still pregnant or trying to conceive?

Absolutely. Many women begin therapy during pregnancy to prepare emotionally for birth or manage anxiety, and others come to us while navigating infertility or loss. No matter where you are in your journey, we’re here to support you.

What if I’ve never done therapy before?

You’re in good company—many of our clients are new to therapy. You don’t need to know exactly what to say. We’ll guide you step by step. Our goal is to make therapy feel safe, judgment-free, and deeply supportive.

Getting Started with Therapy

What can I expect during the free intro call?

Your free 15–20 minute call is a relaxed, no-pressure space to talk about what’s been going on. You’ll have a chance to ask questions and see if therapy is a good fit. We’ll match you with the right therapist and walk you through next steps.

What if I don’t feel a connection with my therapist?

Therapy is personal, and the connection matters. If something doesn’t feel right, we’ll help you switch therapists—no awkward conversations, no judgment. You deserve to feel fully supported.

Will I get practical tools, or is this just talking?

Great question. While talking is healing, we also use tools from CBT, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. You’ll learn strategies to feel more in control, grounded, and emotionally equipped for daily life.

How long will I need therapy?

That depends on your goals. Some women feel better after a few months. Others continue longer-term support. We'll check in often to make sure therapy is helping and adjust as needed.

Virtual Therapy & Logistics

How does virtual therapy work?

Sessions take place through secure, HIPAA-compliant video calls. All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer with internet access. You’ll receive a private link before each session. It’s simple, safe, and flexible.

Can I attend therapy during nap time or while feeding?

Absolutely. Many of our clients join sessions while holding their baby, during nap time, or in the car between errands. There’s no need to “get it together” first—just come as you are.

How does virtual therapy support rural or underserved areas in Ohio?

Virtual care eliminates barriers like long drives, parking, and limited local access. Whether you live in a city or a small town, our care is available to you from home.

What if I’m breastfeeding, newly postpartum, or not sleeping?

We get it. Your therapist will work with you to schedule around your life—not the other way around. Therapy is here to support you, even if you're in pajamas, emotional, or holding a baby.

Cost, Insurance & Accessibility

How much does therapy cost?

Sessions are $150. There are no hidden fees or unexpected charges—just clear, high-quality care designed for moms.

Do you accept insurance?

We are a private-pay practice, which means we’re not limited by insurance rules. This allows us to provide personalized care without delays or restrictions. We accept HSA and FSA cards, and we provide superbills so you can request out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients receive partial reimbursement depending on their insurance plan.

Tools, Progress & Clinical Support

What are EPDS and GAD-7, and how do they help?

The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) screens for postpartum depression, and the GAD-7 measures anxiety. We use these tools (along with conversation) to track your symptoms and make sure you’re getting the right support at the right time.

How do I know if therapy is working?

We’ll track your progress together through regular check-ins, symptom improvement, and emotional wellbeing. As you start feeling more hopeful, calm, and confident, you’ll know therapy is making a difference.
